Why founders still want a TechCrunch feature

TechCrunch has covered startups, venture capital and technology since 2005. For founders it is still the name that investors, buyers and future hires recognise, and the kind of source that search engines and AI assistants treat as authoritative when they describe a young company.

The newsroom has changed. Yahoo sold TechCrunch to the investment firm Regent in 2025, the European desk was cut back that summer, and guest columns are no longer accepted. Earned coverage now depends on a strong news peg and a reporter on exactly the right beat.

That is why many companies combine the two: they pitch the newsroom when they have real news, and book a partner feature when they need a TechCrunch article on a fixed date — before a fundraise, alongside a launch, or to give sales and hiring a credible link.

Routes in

Earned story, sponsored post or partner feature?

There are four realistic ways to appear in TechCrunch. Two are decided by TechCrunch’s editors or judges. Two are bought — and only one is written and approved by you.

If you want to try the earned route first, our free guide explains how to find the right reporter, how to offer an exclusive or embargo, and how to time a launch: How to get featured in TechCrunch.

If you need certainty — a funding announcement on a fixed date, a product launch, or a credibility link before a raise — the partner feature is built for exactly that.

What works

Stories that work best as a TechCrunch feature

TechCrunch readers are founders, investors, engineers and early adopters. These stories fit them best:

  • Funding rounds — who invested, how much, and what the money will build.
  • Product launches with a clear before-and-after for users.
  • Original data: a survey, benchmark or usage numbers nobody else has.
  • Expansion into the US, the UK or new markets, new offices and senior hires.
  • AI, security and fintech stories that explain something new, not just announce it.
  • Founder profiles with a strong point of view on where a market is heading.

Based outside the US? TechCrunch writes for a global audience. Companies from the UK, Europe, India, the Middle East and Asia fit well when the story has investors, customers or a launch that matter internationally. We shape that angle with you before writing begins.

FAQ

Get Featured in TechCrunch — FAQ

Is this the same as TechCrunch writing about my company?
No. Earned coverage is written by a TechCrunch reporter who chooses the angle. A partner feature is written by our editors in TechCrunch’s style, approved by you, and published under the publisher’s partner-content rules. Our free pitching guide covers the earned route in detail.
How long does a TechCrunch feature take?
The publisher’s turnaround is one to two weeks after you approve the article. We quote up to four weeks to allow for questions and edits.
Does the TechCrunch feature link to my website?
Yes. The current listing includes a do-follow link. In October 2026 techcrunch.com had a Moz Domain Authority of 93 and an Ahrefs Domain Rating of 92.
Will the article be marked as sponsored?
Partner features are published under the publisher’s partner-content rules. We confirm the exact format, and any label, in writing before you book, so there are no surprises.
Can a company outside the US get featured in TechCrunch?
Yes. TechCrunch covers companies worldwide when the story matters internationally — investors, customers or a launch beyond the home market. United Press shapes that angle, writes the feature and handles publication.
Does TechCrunch still accept guest posts?
No. TechCrunch stopped accepting guest columns in 2025. The realistic routes are a reporter-led story, Startup Battlefield, TechCrunch’s own sponsored products, or a partner feature.
Who owns TechCrunch now?
Yahoo sold TechCrunch to the investment firm Regent in 2025. TechCrunch was founded in 2005.
What should I prepare before my TechCrunch feature?
A short brief: what is new, why it matters, key numbers, a founder quote and your website. Logos and product images help. We suggest the angle, write the article and send it to you to approve.
