About CNBC: who it reaches and why it matters
CNBC is the world’s most-watched business news network and CNBC.com is one of the most-visited financial news sites, with a Moz Domain Authority of 93. Its audience is investors, traders, executives, founders and finance professionals who watch and read to understand what is moving markets now. Coverage runs across markets, economy, technology, media, healthcare, energy, real estate, personal finance (Make It and Select) and small business, with flagship programmes including Squawk Box, Halftime Report, Closing Bell and Mad Money.
Since 2 January 2026 CNBC has been part of Versant Media Group (NASDAQ: VSNT), the company Comcast spun off with MSNBC, USA Network and other cable brands. It is no longer an NBCUniversal division, and a pitch that still says otherwise marks you as out of date.
What can and cannot be guaranteed on CNBC
CNBC.com and the network accept no sponsored articles, contributed bylines or paid segments from third parties. Every appearance is booked by a producer or written by a reporter. We therefore treat CNBC as earned media: we prepare you, we pitch the right desk, and we report every reply, but we do not promise the outcome and we do not sell “guaranteed CNBC” packages. The one CNBC-branded exception in our inventory is CNBC Türkiye, a licensed Turkish-language edition that accepts sponsored features (outside date three to four weeks from copy approval). It reaches Turkish business readers, not the US audience, and we say so plainly when we offer it.
For guaranteed business coverage with a fixed date, we place sponsored features, labelled as sponsored or partner content with a do-follow link, in Business Insider (outside date about three weeks), The Times (three to four weeks) and US city newspapers such as the Chicago Tribune (DA 92, about four weeks). Announcements travel through press release syndication to Yahoo Finance and hundreds of financial news pages within days.
What CNBC producers and reporters book
- Executives of listed or large private companies with reportable numbers: results, guidance, hiring, pricing.
- Fund managers, economists and strategists with a clear, defensible market view on the day it matters.
- Founders whose company is a live data point in a bigger story: tariffs, AI spending, consumer demand, interest rates.
- Sector specialists who can explain a regulatory or technological change in two minutes without jargon.
- Personal-finance experts for Make It and Select, where consumer-facing brands occasionally appear as sources.
A pitch to CNBC is short, quantified and available: who you are, the number or view you bring, and the fact that you can be in a studio or on a link within hours.
How Hard Is It Really to Get Featured on CNBC?
CNBC is a business newsroom before it is anything else, and that single fact decides almost everything about who can get on it. Here is our honest assessment, including the ownership change that most agencies have not caught up with yet.
CNBC changed owner in January 2026, and it matters
On 2 January 2026, Comcast completed the spin-off of Versant Media Group, which began regular-way trading on 5 January under the ticker VSNT. CNBC went with it, alongside MSNBC, USA Network, E!, Oxygen, the Golf Channel, Fandango and Rotten Tomatoes. Comcast retained NBC, Peacock and Bravo.
So CNBC is no longer a division inside a cable and broadband conglomerate. It sits inside a standalone, publicly traded news and entertainment company with its own profit and loss account and its own investors to answer to. Any pitch, contact list or agency deck that still describes CNBC as an NBCUniversal or Comcast property is working from a picture that is out of date, and editors notice.
Two doors, and people pitch the wrong one
Television and digital are not the same target. A television segment is arranged by producers who book for a specific show and a specific slot, often within hours, and they are looking for someone who can speak fluently and on the record about something happening today. CNBC.com is staffed by reporters who file written stories, and the way in there is being a useful source for a piece a reporter is already working on.
Confusing the two wastes everyone’s time. A pitch that reads like a written feature proposal will not book a segment, and a request for on-air time will not produce an article.
Timeliness beats narrative here, every time
At a consumer magazine the currency is story. At CNBC the currency is relevance to what the market is doing this morning. Earnings, rate decisions, deals, regulatory moves, sector shocks — these create the openings, and they close again quickly. Expertise has to be verifiable and specific: a named role, a track record, and numbers you are willing to stand behind on live television.
Who we tell to look elsewhere
CNBC is the wrong target for a pre-revenue startup with no market to comment on, for a personal-brand client who wants a flattering profile, and for any brand whose story has no financial dimension. There is no contributed-content programme to fall back on and no route that bypasses the newsroom. If a supplier offers a guaranteed CNBC placement, ask precisely what is being guaranteed, because genuine editorial coverage cannot be promised by anyone outside CNBC.
For clients in that position we usually aim at a serious sector trade title or a national business desk with a features slot, where the same expertise can be presented at length rather than in a ninety-second window.
Difficulty ratings on this page are United Press’s own editorial assessment, based on how the newsroom commissions and books. United Press is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an agent of CNBC or Versant Media Group. Editorial and booking decisions are made by the network alone.
