The fashion publicist who tells you which titles before you pay a penny
Hire a UK fashion publicist with a difference: the publications are named in writing, publication is guaranteed, and there is no retainer. Media relations, press coverage and brand storytelling for fashion brands, designers and the people behind them.
Speak to a fashion publicist →What does a fashion publicist actually do?
Strip away the glamour and a fashion publicist does one thing: gets your brand, your collection or your name written about by publications your customers, buyers and stylists already trust. Here is what that involves in practice — and how United Press does each part.
Finding the story
A collection is not a story. The founder, the fabric, the customer, the timing — a publicist finds the angle an editor will actually commission.
Media relations
Knowing which editor at which title runs which kind of piece, and having placed work with them before. Ours goes back to 2001.
Pitching and placing
Turning the angle into a feature, profile, product story or interview — and getting it published, not just “sent”.
Press materials
Bios, collection notes, lookbook selects, quotes and credits prepared to the standard fashion desks expect, so a yes becomes a page quickly.
Timing to the calendar
Long-lead glossies, weekly titles and daily nationals all commission on different clocks. A publicist sequences coverage so it lands when it matters.
Fashion week and events
Previews, front-row and post-show coverage around London Fashion Week and Paris — handled through our fashion show PR and Paris Fashion Week PR services.
Founder and talent profiles
Positioning the person as well as the label: designer profiles, founder stories and expert commentary that outlast a single season.
Making the coverage work
“As featured in” on your site, coverage attached to line sheets and decks, and a press record that search engines and AI assistants can read.
Three ways to hire a fashion publicist in the UK — compared honestly
Most people searching for a fashion publicist are weighing a freelancer against a traditional fashion PR agency. There is a third option, and the differences are concrete.
| What you get | Freelance fashion publicist | Traditional fashion PR agency | United Press |
|---|---|---|---|
| Publications named before you commit | Rarely — a target list at best | “Tier-one fashion press” in the proposal | Yes — the actual titles, in writing |
| Publication guaranteed | No — best efforts | No — results not guaranteed | Yes. Non-publication does not happen on our accounts; the replace-or-credit clause is a formality |
| Contract | Monthly, usually 3–6 months | Retainer, typically 6–12 months | No retainer. One launch, one collection or one season |
| Time to first feature | Weeks to months | Onboarding first, then pitching | Typically around 14 days from titles agreed |
| Fashion week and events | Depends on the individual | Yes, usually as an add-on | Yes — London and Paris |
| What you pay for | Time | Time and access | Named placements that go live |

See fashion show PRA London fashion publicist for brands anywhere in the UK
We are based in London, where most of the fashion press, stylists and showrooms are. But the coverage does not depend on your postcode: a designer in Manchester, a label in Glasgow or a boutique in Bath is pitched to the same national and international titles as a Mayfair house. Coverage is placed in UK titles and, where your market needs it, international ones.
Publications a UK fashion publicist should be able to place you in
Most publicists will not tell you which titles until you have signed. Ours is written down before you commit. Editorial placements are written by or with the publication’s team; sponsored placements carry a disclosure line. Both are permanent, indexed pages on the publication’s own domain.
Availability and editorial policy vary by title and season. The titles that fit your brand are confirmed and named in writing before you commit.
What every client of our fashion publicists receives, in writing
Our promise to every fashion client
Before you commit to anything, you will have the following from us, written down:
- The publications, by name. Not a category. Vogue, or Grazia, or the Evening Standard — the actual titles that fit your brand, and in what order.
- A guarantee of publication. You are not paying a publicist for attempts. Non-publication is not something that happens on our accounts; the replace-or-credit clause in the paperwork exists because contracts need one, not because we expect to use it.
- Your brand confirmed as a fit first. We check you against each publication’s editorial policy before work starts, so nothing surprises you after.
- A first feature within around 14 days of the titles being agreed. Long-lead print is planned to the season.
- Editorial or sponsored, labelled for every title. Both are permanent, indexed pages on the publication’s own domain.
- No retainer and no lock-in. One launch, one collection or one season. Come back for the next because the coverage landed.

How much does a fashion publicist cost in the UK?
It is the most searched question about fashion PR and the least answered. Here is the honest version. A freelance fashion publicist in the UK is usually paid monthly for a fixed number of days; an agency charges a retainer, typically for six to twelve months, whether or not coverage lands that month. In both cases you are paying for time.
United Press prices against the outcome instead: the named publications that will go live for your brand. That means the cost depends on three things, none of which is “how many months”.
Which titles
A profile in a national glossy and a product inclusion in a shopping title are different placements with different costs. You choose the mix from the named list.
Timing
Coverage timed to a launch, a show or a season is sequenced around your calendar. Long-lead print planned pre-season is different from a quick digital feature.
Readiness
Imagery, bio, collection notes and a clear story reduce the work between a yes and a page. We tell you what is missing before you commit.
Send the brief through the form below and you receive the titles, the sequence and exactly what it takes — with no retainer attached.
Why the right fashion publicist now matters for AI search too
Buyers, stylists, journalists and customers increasingly ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews about brands and people before they search the old way. Those answers are assembled from what recognised publications have already published. A publicist who gets you into named titles is, in effect, writing the answer those systems give about you.
Every placement we secure is a live, indexed article on the publication’s own domain — the exact kind of source these systems cite. Coverage that sits behind a paywall, in a newsletter or only on social does not do this.
Who you are — drawn from a profile in a fashion or business title.
What you are known for — from collection features and product stories.
Why you are credible — from national and business coverage on your name.
Sources cited — the publications’ own domains, which is why we name them first.
A fashion publicist’s first month with you, week by week
No discovery decks, no six-week onboarding. This is the sequence for a typical brand or designer brief.
You send the brief: who you are, what is launching, who has to see it. We come back with the titles by name, the order and what each placement is for. Your brand is checked against each publication’s policy.
Story and materials built: the angle, bio, collection notes, imagery selects and quotes. First feature typically goes live by the end of this week.
Visibility placements land — collection features, product stories, credits — timed to your launch, show or season.
Authority placements: business or national coverage on your name. “As featured in” goes on your site and outreach. Next season planned only if you want it.

UK Non-Fiction AuthorPublishing / MediaFashion publicist UK: your questions, answered
Q1What do fashion publicists do?
They get a brand, collection or person written about in publications the right audience trusts: finding the story, handling media relations, pitching and placing features, preparing press materials and timing coverage to the fashion calendar. At United Press the publications are named before you commit and publication is guaranteed.
Q2What is the difference between a fashion publicist and a fashion PR agency?
A publicist is usually an individual, often freelance, working on a monthly basis; an agency is a team on a retainer. Both typically sell effort rather than results. United Press works like a publicist — one point of contact, no long contract — but with named titles and guaranteed publication.
Q3How much does a fashion publicist cost in the UK?
Freelancers charge monthly for time; agencies charge a retainer for six to twelve months. We price against the named placements that will go live for your brand, so the cost depends on which titles, the timing and how ready your materials are. Send the brief and you receive the titles and exactly what it takes.
Q4Do you guarantee publication?
Yes. The publications are named before you commit and publication is guaranteed. Non-publication is not something that happens on our accounts; the replace-or-credit clause in the paperwork is a contractual formality, not an expectation.
Q5Do I need to be in London?
No. We are a London fashion publicist working with brands, designers and creatives across the UK and internationally. London matters for showroom and stylist access; the coverage itself is placed in the same titles wherever you are based.
Q6How quickly can a publicist get me featured?
A first feature typically goes live within around 14 days of the titles being agreed and your brand confirmed as a fit. Long-lead print titles are planned to the season.
Q7Do you handle London Fashion Week and events?
Yes. Previews, front-row and post-show coverage for London Fashion Week, Paris and off-schedule presentations are handled through our fashion show PR and Paris Fashion Week PR services, and can be combined with brand or personal coverage.
Q8Is this page about hiring a publicist or becoming one?
Hiring one. This is United Press’s fashion publicist service for brands, designers and fashion professionals in the UK. If you are researching fashion PR as a career, the duties section above is an accurate picture of the work, but we do not offer courses or recruitment.
